President's welcome!
A warm hello to all NPCNA members! 2009 marks the 25th anniversary of NPCNA. The word anniversary dervives from the Latin word anniversarius, which originates from the words for year and to turn, meaning (re)turning yearly. It is hard to believe 25 years have “turned.”
In 1983, NPCNA was founded by a group of cardiology nurses who realized that no organization existed that was dedicated to professional nurses caring for children with congenital or acquired heart disease. The infinite wisdom and experience of the founding members created the goals of NPCNA which are in effect today: to promote the health and welfare of infants, children, and young adults with acquired or congenital heart disease by enhancing the art and science of pediatric cardiovascular nursing.
